What Does God Do With Sin?

I have been thinking about sexual immorality and what it does to people and I am beginning to wonder what God even thinks, what He would do. Have you ever thought about the universe, everything around you, how they ever came to be? Perhaps you have heard or read from

the Bible that God created the entire universe in six days. This is correct. But have you ever wondered or imagined how? Think about every detail of creation for a moment, from the minutest to the large, from the tiniest speck of dust to the gigantic expanse of the sky above. How did He do this? In just six days!

God is powerful, indisputably, and able to do anything. He has what I may call veto power over His creation, and reserves the authority to punish sin. This is because He hates sin and the sight of it. So He has also created hell fire where the devil and all his angels as well as his followers will burn forever.

The Bible says that God created hell for Satan and the wicked angels who rebelled against Him, but there are people in hell also, as we read in Matthew 25:41. Both angelic beings and human beings are in hell for the same reason: sin. The Book of Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death. Since God is eternal, immutable, and infinite; therefore everyone who chooses to live their lives for God would enjoy eternal life with and in Him (John 3:16). In the same vein, since all sins are fundamentally against God, God has decreed the just punishment for sin must also be eternal. Matthew 25:46 (Amp.) declares:

Then they will go away into eternal punishment, but those who are just and upright and in right standing with God into eternal life.

Consider this: if God did not send people to hell for breaking His laws, it could be said that God is not just. The psalmist says in Psalm 7:11-13 (Amp.):

God is a righteous Judge, yes, a God Who is indignant every day. If a man does not turn and repent, [God] will whet His sword; He has strung and bent His [huge] bow and made it ready [by treading it with His foot]. He has also prepared for him deadly weapons; He makes His arrows fiery shafts.

This preparation is for and against the wicked or the sinner who has refused to repent. A good analogy is a court of law with a judge and a lawbreaker. A just judge would always convict the person who has been found guilty. If that judge did not pursue justice for the crime, he would not be a just judge. Moses says in Deuteronomy 32:4 (Amp.):

He is the Rock, His work is perfect, for all His ways are law and justice. A God of faithfulness without breach or deviation, just and right is He.

But think about the mercies of this God!

Look forward to the next post! God bless!
