Safeguarding Your Sexuality: Living in the Word Daily

A lot of young people today are still struggling with their sexuality. They are Christians, they go to church, but they still struggle with their sexuality. In today's post, I'd like to share with you one sure way to safeguard your sexuality and keep your relationship intact.

If there is any step you must take to safeguard your sexuality, it is that you must live in the Word daily, at all times, studying, meditating, on and memorising the Word. The importance of this cannot be overemphasised. This is one thing I don’t play with every single day of my life for more than two decades now, and counting.

Take Joshua in the Bible for instance. He was favoured with direct communications from God Himself; sometimes by an inward revelation; sometimes by the appearance of an angel in visible form, and so on and so forth. He could also consult the mind of God by means of the high priest’s Urim and Thummim. Yet was he to study and meditate on the written Word! This was why God told him in Joshua 1:8 that if he desires not just success, but good success (King James Version), then he must make the Word his daily companion. This means that you can never amount to anything unless you allow yourself to be governed by the Word of God.

Also, in the Book of Psalm 1:1-3, the psalmist states that one who stays with the Word instead of loafing about with sinners and unbelievers will be ever flourishing like a tree planted by a river.

It is obviously for this reason that Paul told his spiritual son, Timothy, in 2nd Timothy 2:15 to study the Word to show himself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth; that is, handling aright, or sharing or expounding the Word of truth aright, even when held in contempt by the world around. So, the punch here is to study the Word so as to meet God’s approval, and also to be able to, with and by the Word, withstand whatever challenge that may come your way.

Then, in Ephesians 6:17, Paul again makes us know that to fight to win the battles of life, one would need to take up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. So you must be pure and holy if you must win the war against this evil. Give yourself to the Word. The importance of this and these Scriptures should not be trivialised, while you take up a life of prayer with it.

So until I come your way again, keep keeping fit spiritually. You may leave your comments and questions in the space provided below, and I will surely get back to you. God bless!
